Named legacy restoration areas such as "Agnes Oerke Mangrove Forest" can be arranged in the Partner, Donor and Producer categories. This may be a funeral tribute or a tribute to a living person for their legacy. It also counts as Carbon OFFSET CREDITS.

Leaving a Bequest

There are many easy ways to include the GCEEF in your will or estate plan. You can name the GCEEF the direct beneficiary of specific assets such as your Individual Retirement Plan (IRA), 401(k) or life-insurance policy, of a portion of your estate or of your residual estate after payment of other bequests.

Put Your IRA to Work for Nature

Did you know that you can now make a distribution from your IRA to the GCEEF without incurring tax on the withdrawal? If you are 70½ or older temporary legislation allows you to make cash gifts totaling up to $100,000 from your traditional or Roth IRA to qualified charities without incurring income tax on the withdrawal. This is good news for people who want to make a charitable gift during their lifetime from their retirement assets, but have been discouraged from doing so because of the income tax penalty. The current provision is effective for the 2009 tax year only.

Charitable IRA Rollover Provision

On October 3, 2008, Congress passed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (H.R. 1424), which includes an extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover. The extension allows individuals 70½ and older to donate up to $100,000 from their IRAs tax-free to The Greater Caribbean Energy and Environment Foundation. This special opportunity is in effect for this tax year only so you must act by December 31, 2009 to take full advantage of the current legislation.

Please note: Partners, Donors and Producers are listed by name in the GCEEF Partners Section:

Here is what your tax-deductible donation will typically be spent for and will accomplish:

$1,000.00 restores two acres of seagrass and millions of fish FOR PEOPLE IN POVERTY worth $170,000.00 every twenty years, OR

OR

$1,000.00 employs on an average ten fishermen in a nation of poverty for one month to restore fish nurseries in damaged coastal areas, OR

$1,000.00 supports a one-day workshop to educate government staffs in developing countries on recent scientific environmental technologies for preserving and enhancing living marine ecosystems.

Getting positive things done that make a lasting difference in the planet's sustainability and make the world work better is the hallmark of GCEEF. Through us you can leave your imprint and signature on a better, safer world that works for everybody!.
