We have found a series of important places in the Greater Caribbean Sea where impacts have occurred to the marine plants. We have the help of local fisher folk who plant the mostly the seagrasses, and sometimes mangroves
marshes or coral. They know they will have more fish when these newly planted areas regrow ( which takes months to year depending on which plants). Fish come into the area free of charge because they like the new habitat and food the seagrass gives them. Then the local fishermen over decades have more fish to feed the local kids. We pick places where people live on less than $2 per day.The plants and animals associated with these tropical seagrass beds are some of the most diverse in the world so we enhance biodiversity also.
We have invented the technique to plant seagrasses under the water and have taken this around the world, so we know it works well.
We have found a large number of places where we can replant it successfully, so we will not run out of places. We have studied the fish and shell fish, and birds which return within months after planting so we know this works.
This will not displace some other habitat such as a forest or land needed for agriculture. The barren land has just been sitting there since the impact.
When you pay your money you get into a project which we plant and monitor along with another scientist who also monitors it also so you know what is happening. We report back to you.
